Summary

Songwriter Alan Mills Singers Émilie Clepper and Thomas Hellman Illustrations PisHier

A fresh rendition of a classic children’s tune followed by a buffet of silly sing-along songs.

Get to know a quirky old lady who swallows a heap of animals—from a dog, cat, bird and spider to that infamous little fly. The children’s classic sets the table for several timeless folk tunes, written over 50 years ago. Tongue-in-cheek and smart at heart, this buffet of singalong alphabet, counting and rhyming songs is jaw-droppingly silly as it is devourable.

Alan Mills was a folksinger, writer, and actor who released several albums on Folkways Records. His performance at the 1960 Newport Folk Festival was preserved on a Vanguard recording. He also found lasting success as a singer with the CBC radio show Folk Songs for Young Folk, which ran from 1947-59. He was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1974

Artist, illustrator and author Pierre Girard (known professionally as PisHier) has been combining various art genres, such as comic strips, numerical pictures, painting, illustration and graphic design, over the past 10 years. He is one of the founding members of the popular Quebec City publication Fanzine Bidon and has illustrated a dozen children’s books.

Emilie Clepper brings one of the genre’s finest new voices to Americana, country, folk music. Since her teens, Emilie has travelled back and forth between her native Quebec and her father’s Texas and counts folk, bluegrass, gospel and roots country among her most enduring influences. The Family Record, her newest album, serves as a heartfelt tribute to her father, featuring his songwriting on every track.

Thomas Hellman tells the story of America, from the Wild West to the Great Depression, through bilingual adaptations of old-time blues, folk, and gospel songs. The son of a Texan father and French mother, he was gifted with two languages and distinct heritages. He has released seven albums as a singer-songwriter and in 2022, he created Mythomania, a live show inspired by his radio spots on Greek mythology.
