An extraordinary repertoire featuring 28 Jewish nursery rhymes, lullabies, and songs originating from the Ashkenazic, Sephardic, and Yemenite communities. The lyrics in Hebrew, Judeo-Spanish, Yiddish, and Arabic are first reproduced in the original alphabets, then transcribed into Roman characters and translated into English. Additional notes on the origin and cultural context of each song as well as on Klezmer music are also included.

Nathalie Soussana is the author of several musical picture books, including Songs from the Vanilla Trail and the 2020 Children's Africana Book Awards winner, Songs in the Shade of the Cashew and Coconut Tree. She’s also written several musicals, including À l’ombre de l’olivier, Romances de Paris, and Silence on tourne.

Jean-Christophe Hoarau is a guitarist by training, who toured for 10 years with the Jeunesses Musicales de France. As an arranger and composer, he is an 11-time recipient of the prestigious Grand Prix de l'Académie Charles Cros award, as well as a Disque d'or. He has produced several musical picture books for children, including Songs from the Vanilla Trail and Songs in the Shade of the Cashew and Coconut Trees.

Paul Mindy is an award-winning musician who received the Georges Brassens Prize honouring his work in Brazilian music. He is an arranger, composer, singer and percussionist. He has worked alongside other musicians such as Carlo Rizzo, Baden Powell and Richard Galliano.

Béatrice Alemagna has published more than 20 titles and received several prestigious prizes including a special mention for the prestigious Ragazzi Award sponsored by the Bologna International Children’s Book Fair. In 2021 and 2022, she was shortlisted for the Hans Christian Andersen Award in Illustration.
