Author / Illustrator

Jiu Er became a well-known sculptor in China before she began creating children’s books, having her work selected for the World of Women's Art Exhibition in Beijing, the Dongyang International Woodcarving Festival, and the 60th anniversary in commemoration of Mao Zedong's Speech during the Yan'an Forum on Literature and Art. Her first picture book, My Sister’s Big Pumpkin, published in 2012, made the “Top 50 Books for the Public” list in China; and in 2016, she became the first Chinese illustrator to appear on the prestigious IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Honour List for Don’t Skip Rope With a Frog.

Narrator

Mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah was awarded in 2014 the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for her cultural contribution to Canada as a singer and as the host of CBC Radio 2’s national classical daily music program,Tempo. She has also been the recipient of several distinguished prizes and awards, including the Canada Council for the Arts Emerging Artist Award. More recently, she released the recording Elements Eternalfeaturing Canada’s illustrious Gryphon Trio.
