The story of a little stuffed doggy named Chiffon who falls victim to famished mites after having been left at home alone. Upon his parent’s return, they discover his soggy red cotton tail on the floor and are faced with the challenge of putting him back together.
The narrated story is followed by recordings of the songs “Le petit chien de laine” and “Sautons sur le carreau”.
Lionel Daunais was a distinguished baritone, composer and lyricist. He was a frequent performer on Canadian radio in the 1940s, and his numerous awards include the Canadian Music Council Medal, the Calixa-Lavallée Music Award, and a posthumous Denise-Pelletier Award. In 2006, he was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Marie Lafrance studied graphic arts and etching, worked as a printmaker and has since illustrated many books for children. Her work has been nominated three times for the Governor General’s Literary Award, and she recently won the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Award for A Hen for Izzy Pippik.
