Alan Mills, a folksinger, writer, and actor, gained fame through albums on Folkways Records, the CBC radio show Folk Songs for Young Folk (1947–59), and his performance at the 1960 Newport Folk Festival. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Canada in 1974.
Gilles Vigneault, a Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame member and Québécois folksinger, is celebrated as one of Canada’s top 20th-century music figures. He has earned accolades like the Grand prix du disque de l’Académie Charles-Cros and the Médaille Vermeil from Paris. He resides in Montreal.
Lionel Daunais, a celebrated baritone, composer, and lyricist, received honors like the Canadian Music Council Medal and Calixa-Lavallée Award. He was posthumously awarded the Denise-Pelletier Award and inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2006.
Marie Lafrance, a graphic artist turned children’s book illustrator, has earned three Governor General’s Award nominations and the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Award. She lives in Montreal.
