Songs in the Shade of the Flamboyant Tree:
Winner of Parent's Choice and NAPPA Awards!

Songs in the Shade of the Flamboyant Tree: French Creole Lullabies and Nursery Rhymes has had the recent honour of winning double awards. The Parent's Choice Foundation has selected Songs in the Shade of the Flamboyant Tree: French Creole Lullablies and Nursery Rhymes is a 2012 Parent's Choice Recommended winner in the category of CD with Book. This new title brings a colorful selection of French Creole lullabies and nursery rhymes with a description of its cultural background of each song. Also, a 2012 National Parenting Publications Award (NAPPA) has honored this title also in the music category.

This book-CD offers 30 French Creole lullabies and nursery rhymes originating from islands such as Haiti, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Reunion.

Compiled by Chantal Grosléziat, and arranged by Paul Mindy, the songs are performed by children, women, and men. The illustrations were created by Laurent Corvaisier. Lyrics have been translated to English with descriptions of its origin.
